Growing up in a digital world, by Rachel Barr

Lunchtime conference, September 19, 2022, by Rachel Barr, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Psychology, Georgetown University, Washington DC

Summary : Learning from media during early childhood is constrained by lack of perceptual and social cues and by the slow development of memory flexibility. There is a transfer deficit in learning from multiple forms of media. However when these constraints are taken into consideration young children can and do learn from media. During the colloquium Barr will discuss how learning and engagement can be maximized. She will also discuss the CAFE consortium, an international group of researchers examining family media ecology.
