Abstract

This article presents the results of a survey that aims to identify factors that are associated with certain psychometric assessment practices of Quebec guidance counselors (n = 296) and psychologists (n = 177) who completed an online questionnaire on their practices. Stepwise regression analyses show that certain contextual factors are related to the frequency of psychometric assessment as well as the nature of the main construct measured in their practice. As for social representations related to therapeutic and information-gathering assessment approaches, they are associated with the frequency of psychometric assessment and the nature of the main construct measured by guidance counselors.
